The 27th of November, Arnis Martinelli played some fragments of his next composition in the public librairy of Canicattini Bagni. He his creating this piece for the 760th anniversary of the birth of Dante Alighieri and it has the Divina Comedy as a theme.
Arnis Martinelli reminds us that one day we will all leave this hospitable garden, and each will find ourselves in our own circle, according to how we have lived this life. Perhaps we will meet someone, but perhaps this is the only time we will see each other under this sun. Therefore, the composer would like, with the blessing of the great Dante and his companions, to be able to perceive something of what lies beyond this limited space.
In the Valley of the Temples, near Agrigento, there is the following plaque:
THEY SAY POETS HAVE NO PLACE, BUT YOU, DANTE, FATHER OF THE SOUL-FRIENDLY WORD, LIKE THEM, ARE WATCHFUL IN THE DARK VALLEY OF HISTORY WHERE THE ETERNAL BATTLE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL, OUTSIDE AND WITHIN US, HAS ALWAYS BEEN.
YOU TOO, PILGRIM OR TRAVELER, WHO STILL READ DANTE’S PERENNIAL WORD, CLIMB WITH HIM ON THE STAIRWAY OF GOD’S INVISIBLE MEADOW, UP TO THE CRY OF THE HEAVENS, BUT TO DESCEND INTO THIS VALLEY OF ANCIENT QUESTIONS WHERE THE SONG OF THE ALMOND BLOSSOM, NEWLY AWAKENED BY THE SUN’S PRAYER, IN THE SILENCE OF MEMORY EXTINGUISHES THE DUST-FIRE OF DEATH.
